Decarbonization and Integration of Renewable Energy

A strategic agreement with Genneia that combines predictability, flexibility, and nationwide reach to support the energy transition of the citrus industry in Tucumán.

Citromax continues to strengthen its Energy Transition Program through the procurement of electricity from renewable sources under Argentina’s Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER), the national framework designed to accelerate the transition toward a cleaner energy matrix.

As a large user within the Wholesale Electricity Market, Citromax currently operates with a diversified energy supply mix. This includes electricity generated from thermal sources, associated with CO₂ emissions, as well as renewable energy supplied by Genneia, generated from wind and solar sources.

In line with the targets established by Law No. 27,191, which sets a mandatory minimum share of renewable energy consumption, Citromax has chosen to go beyond regulatory requirements. Through its agreement with Genneia, the company has contracted renewable energy equivalent to 25% of its total electricity demand, voluntarily exceeding the current legal threshold.

Moreover, during November and December 2025, Citromax achieved 100% renewable electricity consumption. This milestone was made possible through a complementary agreement with Genneia, allowing the company to access surplus renewable generation during periods of high availability, further strengthening clean energy supply.

Looking ahead to the first months of 2026, Citromax aims once again to significantly exceed regulatory minimums, with the goal of reaching close to 100% renewable energy consumption during January and February, subject to operational conditions and energy availability.

This commitment is supported by a five-year long-term agreement with Genneia, providing predictability, flexibility, and operational reliability to support the continued growth of Citromax’s industrial operations while reducing its environmental footprint.

The initiative holds particular significance in Tucumán, where Citromax conducts a substantial portion of its production activities. The agreement also aligns with Genneia’s strategy to expand its territorial presence, delivering renewable energy to additional provinces and generating positive impacts in the communities where it operates.

Within this context, Citromax seeks to actively contribute to the decarbonization of the citrus industry and to the development of a more sustainable energy matrix in Tucumán, integrating environmental criteria into its production and operational decision-making.

As part of this commitment, Citromax promotes awareness and knowledge-sharing around renewable energy, hosting technical and educational visits from institutions, universities, and organizations interested in understanding how these energy solutions are integrated into real-world industrial processes.
