Sustainable Institutions 2024 Training Program
Yesterday, Citromax and the Ministry of Education of Tucumán launched a digital training program with official certification to enhance the reach of the Sustainable Institutions Program. This strategic partnership will create new spaces for engagement and learning for educators and leaders from 21 schools in Tucumán.
This collaboration builds on an experience that has been developing since 2021 within the framework of the Sustainable Institutions Program by Citromax SACI. Initially, our goal was to spread good environmental practices and replicate the sustainability successes achieved within the company to our area of influence. In designing the Sustainable Institutions Program, we considered community needs and opportunities to generate value-added ideas, solving environmental problems and fostering a circular economy. The program primarily focuses on conveying the concepts of an appropriate waste management system, separating recyclable dry and wet waste at the source for reuse and revalorization, and composting the organic fraction. Additionally, it promotes the management of gardens that use this compost to produce agroecological food for school cafeterias. The success of this initiative is due not only to Citromax but also to the leaders of these institutions who embraced the cause and integrated these practices into their schools.
At Citromax, we seek to establish lasting alliances with organizations that share our values of sustainability, environmental care, and commitment to promoting change from within. Today, the Sustainable Institutions Program is expanding thanks to the Ministry of Education, which recognized the potential of a local initiative and helped it achieve provincial reach. This is made possible through coordination with the Directorate of Non-University Higher Education and the Directorate of Continuing Teacher Education and Research, who will ensure that the Digital Pedagogical Team, with members from Citromax’s Environmental and Sustainability department, provides certified training to the program leaders in each institution, transforming them into official promoters of circular and triple impact practices in the educational system.
During the launch event, government authorities, along with representatives from the 21 participating schools, toured the Citromax plant to explore sustainable practices and understand how they can be transferred and implemented in their schools. We observed the production process, the waste management and treatment sector, the company’s sustainability policies, and finally, the garden to understand sustainable agriculture and ecological cultivation practices.
As Rodolfo Arrueta, Citromax’s Manager of Environmental and Sustainability, stated, we are convinced that the official certification training provided by the Ministry of Education’s digital pedagogical team, along with the possibility of delivering the training through a new online platform, will enable the Sustainable Institutions Program to become a project whose reach exceeds Citromax’s area of influence and has an impact that we would not have achieved without government assistance. The goal for the second half of 2024 is to reach 21 educational establishments and, based on the results, add more schools for the following year.
We thank the team that made this strategic partnership possible, as well as the Minister of Education, Susana Montaldo; the Secretary of State for Education, Gabriela Gallardo; the Director of Non-University Higher Education, Silvina Fernández; and the Digital Pedagogical Team of the Directorate of Continuing Teacher Education (FDCI), Prof. Adriana Suárez and Prof. Susana Álvarez.
